Developed in close collaboration with LI-MA, our new exhibition room is dedicated to the history of media art.
With this first presentation, we explore the legacy of Dutch artist Livinus van de Bundt (1909–1979), a seminal figure in the development of experimental media art practices involving animation, sound, and light. Over the coming two years, the programme will continue to unfold.
This presentation marks the second chapter of Nxt Foundation’s evolving artistic programme, which engages with the expanded field of new media art. The programme approaches media as a gateway to new worlds across its historical contexts, contemporary practices, and future trajectories.
LI-MA (Living Media Art) is an Amsterdam-based institute dedicated to the distribution, preservation, and research of media art. Established in 2013, it has maintained a longstanding role as a vital conduit between artists and cultural and scientific institutions. Drawing on its extensive archive of media art connected to the Netherlands, spanning the past six decades, LI-MA has, for this occasion, collaborated with Archival Consciousness to digitise a curated selection of Livinus van de Bundt’s pioneering works in experimental video art.
This programme is kindly supported by Cultuurloket DigitALL.
