Contrarium is a series of audiovisual live shows spanning over two weekends in January 2025. The seated concerts will take place under a custom installation by Lumus Instruments at Lofi Amsterdam, which acts as a canvas for improvisation and experimentation. Nxt Museum has been invited to curate two musical artists to perform on January 10, 2025 at Lofi: Portrait XO and Mary Lake.
During the event series, Lumus Instruments will collaborate with various sound artists to explore the visual manifestation of sound. Electronic sounds and gritty sound design, generated live, are translated to light that travels through space in the form of a three-dimensional light installation. Join us for a mindblowing experience at the intersection of sound and light.
About Lumus Instruments
Lumus Instruments is a multidisciplinary studio that experiments with the physical manifestation of computational technology. The studio is directed by Timo Lejeune and Julius Oosting, who are both driven by the process of making and the search for synergetic design principles.
With the notion of “experience as the ultimate reality”, they artificially craft experiences that give rise to a sense of timelessness and radical realism. This results in installations that create a sense of future through the experience of now.
