Polynode XI

Polynode XI is an audiovisual instrument that transforms light and sound into a continuously shifting experience. Virtual nodes generate evolving patterns, creating a dynamic flow that unfolds over time.

By immersing viewers in this sensory landscape, the installation bridges the intangible nature of digital systems with the tangible presence of shared space. It subtly reshapes how we perceive space and time, often beyond our conscious awareness.

Polynode XI envisions a future of harmony between humans and technology, inviting reflection on how the two may coexist and merge into a new kind of nature.

Lumus Instruments | active since 2018
Lumus Instruments is an Amsterdam-based studio focusing on the physical manifestations of computational technology through light, sound, and structural elements. Led by Timo Lejeune (b. 1991, Maastricht) and Julius Oosting (b. 1995 Arnhem), their multidisciplinary approach blends design, architecture, and engineering. Through repeating experiments, they refine digital systems while investigating their impact on how we perceive and interact with space and time.

Through the synergy of these design principles, they challenge what it means to be human in this digital age. Their work has been exhibited across festivals, clubs, and exhibitions across various disciplines, including ArtClub Houston, FIBER festival, Dutch Design Week, Monopol Berlin, and Amsterdam Dance Event.
