How do we experience time? Is it a fixed mathematical dimension or a subjective flow of fragmented moments?
Duration places these two perspectives – the mechanical and the personal – in a dynamic audiovisual installation. A responsive grid, functioning like a parametric clockwork, distributes light and sound across space and time, inviting visitors to step into multiple temporal dimensions.
The experience is shaped by a custom-built echo system that deconstructs singular audio inputs into evolving patterns, intertwining sound and light in ever-changing sequences.
Duration draws heavy inspiration from the research of historian and writer Jimena Canales. Her book The Physicist and the Philosopher explores the lasting impact of a pivotal conversation between Albert Einstein and Henri Bergson in 1922 — a debate that questioned the very nature of time itself.
Boris Acket | b. 1988, Amersfoort
Boris Acket is a contemporary artist and composer based in Amsterdam. He merges sound, light and motion to explore how they can offer ritualistic encounters and sanctuaries. Having started in the local electronic music context, Acket navigates the tension between surrender and control through his work in an interplay of technology and human experience. The multidisciplinary approach now blurs the lines between performance and exhibition, music and art. His work has been presented in various contexts, from Salone del Mobile to Stedelijk Museum and Amsterdam Dance Event to De School.
