A six-month residency exploring the future of audiovisual culture.

Nxt Museum’s Night Academy for Audiovisual Culture is a six-month residency programme supporting emerging artists working at the intersection of visual art, music, performance and technology. Through mentorship, experimentation and access to the museum’s technical infrastructure, the programme helps artists develop new work while exploring the cultural and social potential of nightlife.

Bridging visual art, music and performance, the museum becomes both a classroom and a laboratory. Residents work alongside artists, technicians, bookers and creative directors, developing new artistic concepts that culminate in a public presentation later this year.Led by artist and researcher Bogomir Doringer, the Night Academy explores nightlife not only as entertainment, but as a site for artistic experimentation, collective experience and cultural exchange.

The Night Academy for Audiovisual Culture is made possible with support from the Municipality of Amsterdam.

Meet the 2026 residents

Selected through this year’s open call by Anna Bogomolova and lead mentor Bogomir Doringer, four artists and collectives join the 2026 Night Academy residency. Working across 3D animation, sound, light, performance, digital art and spatial design, they will spend the coming months developing new work at Nxt Museum.

FCKLY

FCKLY is a 3D animation studio by Isabeau Zonneveld and Daneira Smith working at the intersection of music, emotion, and digital design. They create expressive visual worlds for artists, venues, and VJs, ranging from full visual identities to live VJ performances and ready-made visual packs. Their work adds a tactile, playful visual layer to music culture, designed to amplify sound and support the energy of events. They aim to move their audience, both literally and figuratively, while their animations live and dance alongside them. To bring these 3D worlds into physical space, they founded FCKLY Factory, a fully equipped, rentable creative studio space in Amsterdam.

STATE OFFF (Babusi Nyoni)

Babusi Nyoni is a multi-disciplinary artist, creative technologist, and electronic musician based in the Netherlands. His practice interrogates the friction between human somatic experience and technological mediation through machine learning and physical computing. This grounding extends into his musical alias, State OFFF, where he pioneers a highly kinetic fusion of global club rhythms. These disciplines converge in hardware-driven audio-visual performances, utilising intelligent systems to decode the raw energy of the dancefloor and celebrate collective euphoria. From developing computer vision systems for medical diagnosis to decentralising virtual spaces through dance, Nyoni’s work shifts the focus of technology back toward human intimacy.

Dmytro

Dmytro Tentiuk is an Ukrainian interdisciplinary artist, musician and researcher working across video installation, audiovisual performance and sound. His practice explores the boundary between digital and physical realities, often focusing on movement, instability, and networked environments. He completed a Tech Fellowship at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam 2024–2025. Dmytro is a member of the Ukrainian ‘PHOTINUS’ media art formation, later he co-founded the experimental electronic music group ‘_mediaklub’ and collaborated as video artist for the award-winning opera ‘Chornobyldorf.’ In 2025, he participated in the Venice Architecture Biennale as part of the ‘Circularity on the Edge’ project. His work has been presented at Rijksakademie Open Studios, ZKM Karlsruhe, Ars Electronica, daadgalerie and other contexts.

Dimme & Dong

Dimme and Dong are two independent visual artists with different artistic and cultural backgrounds who share a common visual aesthetic and interest in night culture. They find common ground in their intuitive approach to how light and visuals can be used for storytelling and spatial transformation. Their work aims to explore sculptural lighting, where they treat light not just as a source of visibility, but as a physical material. By combining their backgrounds in storytelling, audiovisual installations, and design, they aim to create “total environments” that feel both futuristic and connected to the energy of the space. From there, their collective D.Dimensions started to take shape.
