Nxt News Update 2026
A brief look at what's ahead at Nxt.

The question of what comes next has long shaped Nxt’s practice, moving beyond the present moment to focus on what comes after. With a fresh start, new partners, and a renewed focus, Nxt Museum continues to programme at the intersection of art, technology and music. So now, what’s next for Nxt?

Nxt Museum enters a new phase. A strategic relaunch places the Nxt Foundation at the center of the museum’s vision and artistic programming. The relaunch has been made possible with the support of Cultuurloket DigitALL, an initiative by the Cultural Fund, Fonds 21, VSBfonds, VriendenLoterij, and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. Cathelijne Broers, director of the Cultural Fund: “We believe in strengthening the cultural sector by enhancing and making visible the relationship between technology and audiences. Nxt Museum holds a unique position in the cultural landscape of the Netherlands.”

Night Academy Talent Programme

This spring, Nxt launches a Night Academy Talent Programme for emerging AV artists within the context of Amsterdam’s ever-evolving night culture ecosystem. The programme transforms Nxt Museum’s exhibition spaces into both classroom and laboratory, contributing directly to Amsterdam’s ambition to fuel new forms of cultural programming after dark. Through weekly sessions with an international group of mentors, the programme explores museum environments as active testing grounds for crossovers between live performance, new media practice and night culture. Nxt Night Academy is made possible with the support of Amsterdam Fonds voor de Kunst.

Last year, Nxt ran the first iteration of the talent programme in collaboration with local promoters Eerste Communie, culminating in a public club night inside our exhibition spaces. After a successful run, Night Academy alumni returned to the museum with live AV sets during ‘Visual Frequencies’ ADE 2025 at Nxt Museum.

Profile of Night Academy Alumni Sophia Bulgakova

Nxt nominated Ukrainian artist and activist Sophie Bulgakova for the monthly online series “Real Amsterdam Talent.” Working across installation and performance, Bulgakova’s practice connects personal experience with wider political realities, exploring how art and activism can exist side by side. Drawing directly from her everyday life as a Ukrainian artist during the ongoing war, her work turns lived reality into stories that audiences can relate to.

Nxt Stage at Mystic Garden Echo’s of Amsterdam

This summer, Nxt takes its programme beyond the museum and into the city, hosting a dedicated AV stage at the new edition Mystic Garden Echo’s of Amsterdam. The festival creates space for local organisers and collectives to shape their own programmes inside a shared festival framework. Nxt curates a crossdisciplinary lineup at the intersection of electronic music, AV performance and experimental live formats.
